We are excited to announce that we are welcoming a new veterinarian to the Cat Care Professionals family, Dr. Melinda Barkley. She has over 15 years of experience in small animal veterinary medicine with a passion for feline medicine, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have her with us.
Dr. Barkley is an Oregon native who was born in Portland and raised in McMinnville. She graduated from Pacific University with a degree in Biology and Sociology, and she graduated from Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. For the past 8 years, she has enjoyed working with Cat Adoption Team as a relief veterinarian as well as serving two terms on the board of the Portland Veterinary Medical Association. As a veterinarian who is certified in veterinary acupuncture, she believes in acupuncture as a way to “offer a second chance at life for many patients with chronic and debilitating conditions”.
When Dr. Barkley is not caring for patients at the clinic, she enjoys sharing her life with her husband of 20 years, their 2 children, 5 cats, and a horse. Some of her hobbies include gardening, hiking, art, and playing the guitar. Their favorite vacation spots include Sun River and the San Juan Islands in Washington.
If you and your cat haven’t had the privilege of meeting Dr. Barkley, we hope you will soon. We just know you’re going to love her as much as we do so let’s all give her a warm welcome.
